Music

Music education offers creative expression and talent development, as well as opportunities to connect to others through performing and appreciating the art.

Make a Joyful Noise

Students participate in music through enrichment or elective classes under the direction of expert musicians. Our talented and professional music instructors recognize music as an art form for self-expression and communication, and they challenge students to sing and learn to play instruments through classroom instruction and rehearsals. Students experience a wide repertoire of classical and contemporary music.

Three-year-olds through fifth graders progress through learning percussion and orff instruments, recorders, and handbells in their music enrichment classes. Fourth through eighth graders may choose to join the orchestra. Seventh grade students may enroll in an elective choir class. Seventh and eighth students may audition for the All-Region Choir and Orchestra.

Lower school students may also join afterschool singing groups. Middle school students can join the Wildcat Worship Team, the school's volunteer contemporary praise band.

Classroom grade level teachers also integrate music into academic areas of the curriculum.

Music skills are developed in several areas:

  • Music history
  • Music theory
  • Ear training
  • Sightreading
  • Vocal technique
  • Instrumental technique
  • Concert performance and etiquette
  • Auditioning for positions, such as in All-Region Orchestra or All-Region Choir
