Choosing St. Clement's

List of 10 items.

  • 1. Academics

Our curriculum is rooted in continual research about how children learn. Varied teaching strategies, class activities, and projects inspire students to discover, analyze, question, solve problems, and communicate their knowledge and understanding. Learning experiences balanced with high expectations encourage students to be curious, independent, and confident learners who are well-prepared for high school.
  • 2. Small Class Sizes

Small classes permit teachers to form positive, caring relationships with their students, to develop a student-centered learning environment, and to teach creatively. The student-teacher-parent partnership is essential to supporting our students' intellectual, social, and emotional growth.
  • 3. Accreditation

St. Clement's School is the only school in El Paso accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS), a prestigious accrediting association that puts us on par with the best independent schools in Texas and in the Southwest. ISAS schools are committed to high educational standards and ongoing institutional improvement.
  • 4. Spiritual Life

The school day begins with interactive daily chapel services which help to promote character development, self-awareness, empathy and spiritual growth within each student. Chapel services, led by adults and students, allow the school community to gather in a nurturing environment to learn about God's great love for us, and in turn, how we can share His love with others.
  • 5. Community Service

Community service is a key component of character development. Students learn the importance of giving back to their community through volunteering their time and gifts to local organizations. St. Clement's students contribute over 4,000 service hours to our local community each year! Participating in community service allows students to experience how they can make a positive difference in our society.
  • 6. Outdoor Education

At each grade level, students travel to different locations outside of El Paso. We explore and hike through world-renowned national parks and historic sites in Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado from first through eighth grade. Through this exposure, students gain appreciation for the beauty of the natural world. The real-world environment becomes a practical classroom for building leadership and life skills.
  • 7. Athletics

St. Clement's offers team sports including football, basketball, volleyball, track and field, soccer, and cross country. Approximatley 75% of the school's students participate in at least one of our team sports. Opportunities to be part of a team begin as early as first grade. Students develop athletic skills and good sportsmanship through practice and competition, often continuing to participate in a team sport from their elementary through middle school years.
  • 8. Fine Arts

Fine arts at St. Clement's include speech and drama, music, visual art, and orchestra. At all grade levels, students are encouraged to be imaginative and expressive as they explore and develop their artistic talents. The arts are both integrated into the core academic classes and offered as enrichment/elective courses. The fine arts are integral to the growth of each student's perceptual and cognitive, creative thinking, problem-solving, self-expression, risk-taking skills.
  • 9. World Language

Research states that it takes five to seven years to acquire academic language in a second dialect. Our goals are for students to achieve high levels of proficiency in Spanish and to respect and appreciate all languages and cultures. Students learn by using the language from early in their education through eighth grade.
  • 10. Facilities

St. Clement's facilities are dynamic and designed with purpose. The community-built playground, designed for students of all ages, is a favorite spot at the school. Play is essential to learning and to social, emotional and cognitive development. Classroom layouts are research informed and age appropriate.
