Third Grade Trip

The Third Grade travels to the ruins at Gran Quivira in the Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument near Mountainair, NM.
The students study an ancient civilization and learn archeology hands-on through participation in a dig, as they unearth shards of pottery, pieces of charcoal, and other artifacts. Our evening is spent at Bonita Park in Capitan, NM, where everyone can rest for a big hike the next day. The Mexican Canyon Trestle, Blind and Osha trails in Cloudcroft, NM, provide a beautiful backdrop for hiking and many opportunities for students to learn about the world around us while practicing Leave No Trace principles.
