Community Reading

Community reading is a valuable community building activity at St. Clement's School. Once a week our fourth grade students meet and read aloud with first grade students.
Reading aloud to young children is not only one of the best activities to stimulate language and cognitive skills; it also builds motivation, curiosity, and memory. The interaction between the older and younger students during Community Reading encourages both age groups to form an even more positive association with books and reading. In addition, the children can practice listening - a crucial skill. Lastly, it is a very positive social experience for the students and the beginning of long-lasting friendships.
