H1N1 Influenza Information
St. Clement's School 2009-2010 H1N1 Virus Policy
The following procedures will be followed in regards to the H1N1 virus and the possibility of an outbreak on the St. Clement’s School campus.
Administration
The following chain of command is to be used in case administrators in this line become infected with the virus and are absent for a period of time. This line indicates who will be in charge should those above the chain become ill:
Nick Cobos
Terry Dillon
Lisa Brock
Priscilla Pelking
Should all of the above administrators become ill at the same time, the school will be closed.
Notices will be posted by email or web page by Rebecca Robinson first, or if needed by Priscilla Pelking or Scott Johnson. Notices will be called in to these website managers according to the chain of command list.
Faculty
If members of the faculty become ill, substitutes will be called upon to the extent that they are available. Should there be a lack of substitutes, faculty will be asked to supplement to the extent that the academic program can continue. Should enough faculty become ill that the academic program cannot continue, students will be gathered into classrooms and supervised by another faculty member. Parents will be called or emailed to come to the school for their children. The decision to initiate the call or email will be made by the administrator in charge.
Students
As of the date of this writing, the school will remain open throughout the flu season should the flu be deemed by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to be a “mild or a moderate” outbreak. Should the CDC advise schools to close, St. Clement’s School will be closed. Parents will be notified of the school’s closing via the media, email and/or school web page. Should the school be closed, parents should go to the school’s web page (www.stclements.org) and click on the Swine Flu Information link.
Security
Should the school’s security personnel become ill, all administrators should be highly visible on campus throughout the time that security persons are unavailable.
Should the receptionist be absent, the administrative assistants should assume the responsibility of answering switchboard calls. Parents should be understanding if their calls are not be answered immediately or not at all due to other administrative priorities.
All parents must adhere to the policy that if their child shows any symptoms of the flu, the child must stay at home. Children should not be brought into the school population if they are ill. Children who arrive at the school ill will sit in the Lower or Middle School office until their parent arrives to take them home or to the doctor. Children and/or faculty/administrators may only return to school or work after all of their symptoms of illness are no longer present.
